I'm slowly but surely making my way through summer! In August, we attended a birthday party for my Great Aunt Margie. Here she is with GiGi (on left) - "her older sister, by ten years" as she always tells us.
After a wonderful dinner and cake/ice cream and presents, some of us headed outside for some Minute to Win It games that we had done in the past. My cousin, Sandy and her kids wanted to try some out. Unfortunately by the time we got outside, it was already really dark, so we were only able to do a few games!
Here is Kari moving cotton balls on her nose with vaseline!
And her mom, Sandy, doing the same with some spectators staring!!! I would say, cheering her on, but I think it would be better to say that they are instead watching her technique!!!
Here she is - running with the cotton ball on her nose!
The only other game I got pics of was when we did the "Junk in the Trunk." This is when you wear a small kleenex box on your belt - containing 10 ping pong balls and your job is to get the balls out without using your hands - so basically shaking around like crazy! We had Cindy do it first, I think! Here she is "shaking" her groove thing!
Kari, our youngest competitor, managed to shake all of her ping pong balls out at a record time!!! And even stopped a few seconds to laugh at the task!
At the end of the night, we were explaining Luke's cochlear implant to Kari and her boyfriend, Nick when Dan and I both felt the implant site and realized it was "puffy" like it had been in the past when Luke was hospitalized for the same thing! Dan and I quickly left the three boys there with Nana and Papa and headed to Children's. Dan called Luke's surgeon en route to the hospital, but found that he was in Iceland! After talking to him for a while, we opted to go back, get the boys and head home.
Once we got home, we put the boys to bed as it was LATE, and Dan and I took some pics of Luke's implant site - and emailed them to Dr. Hullar - Luke's surgeon in Iceland as well as another ENT that is near and dear to our hearts - Dr. Hirose. I LOVE the fact that we got messages returned to us quickly saying to just watch it and that we didn't need to go in. And after a week, the puffiness was gone!
Here is one of the pics we sent!
After a LONG, but fun day, we turned in for the night! Happy Birthday, Aunt Margie!
