The City (and Family!) That Never Sleeps!

We left the Statue of Liberty and traveled across the Holland Tunnel, under the Hudson River, into the financial district of the city! I took this crazy picture of our GPS, affectionately named FLO, because it obviously lost satellite in the tunnel, but it put this great question mark on our car! The boys thought it was funny! :)
We traveled northward to Times Square to check into the Sheraton, Times Square! We got there and LOVED our view from the 12th floor! Nick, Luke, Jack and Maddie spent a while counting taxi cabs!!!
After we got settled in our room, we headed out to explore this great, bright city! The first order of business was to pick up some hoodies for Dan and the boys since I hadn't packed them any and it was a bit chilly (still raining too!) We easily got those in an obvious tourist trap, but the kids were at least a bit warmer.

We then searched for a fab restaurant! We were all hungry. We definitely didn't want to eat at McDonalds or any other chain restaurant in Times Square, so we walked a few blocks and found a cute little Irish pub, Rosie O'Grady's! They had a children's menu, but it was definitely a bit upscale for our family, who only occassionally dines at Pizza Hut and Applebees! The waiter spilled Luke's water all over poor Buka, so we had to strip him down. Thanks to Krisitin who found the women's room and a heavy duty hand dryer that took care of that problem immediately!

After we finished dinner, we headed back to Times Square for some pictures!

Here are Nick and Dan! Nick was having fun, even though he was being pelted with raindrops!
I LOVE Jack's face in this picture of him, Maddie and Kristin! He LOVED the rain, hitting him on the face!!!
Last but not least, is Luke and I! He was such a trooper in the miserable weather. He often wanted to walk by himself...nothing like my 2-year old saying, "No mommy, Buka do it!" I hear that I used to say the same thing about myself when I was his age, guess it's coming back to haunt me! My mom is loving it! :) Luckily he settled for just holding our umbrella!
While exploring we found the Times Square Toys R Us!!! The first thing we saw as we entered the 4 or 5 story building was the huge ferris wheel inside the store! Of course, the boys had to ride it! Here is the back of the ride!
And here are Dan, Nick, Maddie and Jack on their car! It was great that they got a Mega Blocks one! They had all different toys as the cars. A Cabbage Patch kid car, a Lego fire truck, a Cozy Coupe, and a Barbie car to name just a few!
They also had the most amazing sculptures (for lack of a better word!) made out of Legos! They had the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty and of course a Yankee hat - this one was actually suspended from the ceiling!!!
We soon headed out, after a spotting of the real Spiderman (no free photos allowed though!) and picking up a few toys. It was then time for our family picture in Times Square! Rain and all, I think it turned out pretty good!
It was getting super late, though we couldn't tell from all the people still going out and about, all the bright lights, and all the stores still open for business. We still opted to head back to the hotel as we had to get rested for our Saturday Yankee game!

We walked the two blocks and quickly settled the boys in after our LONG, wet day!
Good night!
