When I first moved to NJ, I always said that it "beats you up!" It is so fast paced, so "city," everyone is so trying to keep up with the Joneses, it is unbelievable. Enter in then, the Jersey Shore. While it is full of girls with their chests hanging out and your occasional guidos, it is really a peaceful and serene place, one that Dan and I lived just minutes from and took advantage of often. So, after the hustle and bustle of NY City, we headed down to the shore, just about an hour away! We stopped in to our hotel (kind of a dive!) changed clothes and well, hit the beach!
Now, for all who know NJ, know that you have to pay to get onto the beach...unless it is after 5. After searching for what seemed like FOREVER for parking, we got onto the sandy stuff! Here is the fam, notice that poor Luke wanted to get out and play in his huge sandbox! They all loved it!
After we played on the beach for a while, we opted to head up to the boardwalk to play some games! Jack, Nick and Luke all played and all won! Thank you to the folks who have 'everyone wins' games available!
After we had three winners, we opted to find some food! Dan had his usual, waffle with ice cream - a boardwalk staple - while Luke and Jack shared a funnel cake and Nick enjoyed his vanilla cone! Dan shows off his Jersey Shore pick!
We found a table to sit at - thankfully! I had forgotten how busy the boardwalk is on Saturday nights!
On this trip out East, Dan had sent an e-mail out to all our friends about our whereabouts, since typically whenever we are out there, we usually spend all our time going from house to house. We figured it may be easier for our friends to find us, especially with the boys getting older, and luckily we had some takers! Our good friend, Phil, met us at the boardwalk. Unfortunately he found us around ten, as we were heading back to the hotel. We stayed and chatted a bit with him and then Kristin, Maddie, the boys and I all headed back to get some sleep while Dan and Phil enjoyed the night life!!!
I must have been tired, b/c I didn't even hear Dan come in around 1 a.m.! Sorry I was too wiped out to hang with the guys! Ah, the good ole days of going out late and coming home even later! Kristin even volunteered to watch the boys so I could go out with them, but I was pooped...what a long day we had...Today show, touring NYC, Yankee game and then the Jersey shore! Just typing all this seriously wears me out! More beach fun tomorrow...stay tuned!
