Last Thursday our family, plus friends Kristin and Maddie (who provided much needed kid support!), hit the open road around 7 a.m. with our destination being New York City! We knew we wouldn't make it in one day as we anticipated many potty stops, but we hoped to drive the majority of the day before we would call it a night! We made it as far as Hancock, Maryland, which was about 13 hours of driving...more than enough for three little boys!
Here is our fearless driver...even through ALL the rain - I think it pretty much rained nonstop from Indiana eastward! Honestly, we had to stop a bit earlier than we had planned because there was some MAJOR fog in the mountains of West Virginia! We could only see about 5 feet in front of us (if that!) so we opted to stop for the night!
The back row of the Toyota Sienna was a comfy place for Jack, Maddie, and Nick! They were SO good on this trip, it was really unbelievable! Their Nintendo DSi's and DVD player had a hand in that, but they were still great, so no complaints here!
And here is our second row of passengers...Kristin and Luke! The cooler was sitting in between them which made a perfect foot stool for Maddie and a great, well, pillow, for Kristin and Luke would often instruct her (well, demand may be more like it!) Kristin to lie down on the cooler so that he could play with her hair! Luckily, she was happy to oblige!
As mentioned above, we did stopped earlier than planned, but it was obviously a good thing as the boys quickly fell asleep! Here are Nick and Buka, you will notice Big Penguin, Luke's friend, in many pictures of this trip as he always wanted him, and of course, the binky!
And here is Jack...snoozing!!!
We all slept soundly in our comfy hotel Thursday night in preparation for our arrival into New York City!!!
